I can't Thank You enough, 2024

Mixed Media
Oil & acrylic paint, gifted items, and chalk pastel. This piece highlights expressionistic gestures that recreate the energy I feel in a classroom. I am in the position as an educator to inspire my students, yet they inspire me just as much--if not more. Their gifts are placed upon the border of this canvas since their thoughts always surround mine.

Perseverance and Growth, 2024

Ceramic
This ceramic art piece embodies perseverance through its bold, textured layers that push against the boundaries of the clay, creating a sense of movement and strength. The vibrant colors represent growth, shifting and blending together as they evolve across the surface, much like the process of personal transformation. Each carefully sculpted detail reflects the dedication and patience required to shape the material, symbolizing the challenges faced along the way. Together, the textures and hues create a visual narrative of resilience, where every imperfection tells a story of overcoming obstacles and thriving.

The D.O.G., 2024

Ceramic
This ceramic artwork portrays an abstract dog, its shape flowing with organic curves and soft, undulating lines that suggest movement and life. The vibrant, contrasting colors — rich reds, pinks, and blues bring a playful energy to the piece, capturing the lively essence of the animal. The liquid paint pools and drips, creating a sense of spontaneity and energy, much like the natural flow of emotions or movement.

Theme 1 - Memory

No, my back doesn't hurt, 2023.

Video
A short documentary of photographing the 83rd annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. This project fostered the most growth in my photography career since it pressured me to learn how to fix the camera's settings faster than I ever have before.

Theme 2 - Text

Plant the Seeds of Society, 2023.

Video
Words shape our mind, beliefs, values, and motives as a society. I documented the notes of those who attended the New York City Pride Festival in 2022. The mirror emphasizes how our words are a reflection of society. I connect to this text study deeply because inspirational quotes are the primary means by which I take care of myself mentally.

Theme 3 - Body

You're overeacting, 2023.

Sleepless nights, stressful doctor appointments, and constant stomach pain overwhelmed my life in 2022. This is a visual representation of what I felt like with duodenal ulcers. The jar contains countless OTC and prescription medicines, rusty nails, and broken pieces of metal. It is squeezed tightly by a thick rubber band.

Theme 4 - Irony

Not so funny, 2023.

The image depicted in a gradient of three tonal values depicts how quickly something so funny can become so serious. It's funny how the message juxtaposes the overflow of trash; however, less amusing when viewing its unsaturated counterpart.
The image was taken at the In

Theme 5 - Environment

We Need Your HELP! 2023.

Found Items, Mixed Media
26.5''x10''
Nobody talks about how easily you can ruin the environment. If you follow the Standard American Diet (i.e. consuming animal products), you're contributing to 51% of climate change. The animals on your plate need land to graze, water to drink, food to eat, and air to breathe. So, rainforests are being cut down, our freshwater supply is being depleted, millions of acres are being over farmed to feed livestock, and countless greenhouse gas emissions are made by these animals. You may be thinking, why haven't I heard this before? Or, that I'm crazy. But stop and think about how much capitalism dictates your life, and censors your media consumption. Everyone needs money, and it’s gone too far into financial gain because we’re overlooking the future of this planet. Even with all the free exploitation of animals and land, consumers still pay around $6 more per pound of protein. In order to depict this darkened image of capitalism, charcoal was brushed around the colored pencil and ink. The mirror is to hint at the viewer’s self-reflection. This project was made with the hope that it would change viewer’s perspectives towards what they’re eating. We need to move on from the Neanderthal diet in order to guarantee the survival of Earth.
